Pre-Production Schedule

Before me and Conor can even think about picking up a camera and starting to film our production we must first complete a set of pre-production tasks, all designed to make our production run more smoothly and to help make our final product to its best quality. Me and Conor should learn a lot from our pre-production tasks and we will track all of our progress on the blog.

Here is what we plan to do for our pre-production:
  • Short Film Research and Analysis- I will look into 30 short films analysing them for codes and conventions so I have a better understanding on how a short film is structured, and pick up some useful techniques.
  • Writing Up Initial Proposals and Receiving Audience Feedback- I will write up a couple of ideas and recieve audience feedback on these, this will help me understand better what my audience wants.
  • Research into Target Audience- I will gather some extensive research into my target audience to understand exactly what they would want to see.
  • Genre Research- I will carry out an extensive amount of genre research to get to know the horror genre better and to pick up some useful techniques.
  • Getting To Know the Hardware and Software- I will be looking into my hardware and software and picking up some techniques into how I can use it to it's best ability.
  • Create a Teaser Poster- I will create a teaser poster designed to give my audience a view into what my film will be like.
  • Location Scouting- I will be looking at different locations  to finally pick the correct locations for my film.
  • Costume, Prop's and Set Design- I will be thinking about what I will need for my production and choosing the correct ones for my short film.
  • Casting- I will be looking into the best actors for my production in terms of looks and
  • Soundtrack- I will be asking a musically talented student to create my soundtrack, but I will need to do all the research and information for him.
  • Screenplay and Storyboard- I will create these for to use wile I am filming as a reminder of all the shots I need.

My aim is to finish pre-production by the Friday 13th November 2009. This will give me enough time to shoot and edit my short film to the best of may ability before the final deadline!
